Serves 4. Preparation time 10 minutes. Cooking time 4 hours.
25 g dried mushrooms (optional)
3 cups boiling water
500 g brown lentils
1 bottle red wine
1 tin (410 g) chopped tomato and onion
1 cube chicken stock
5 cloves of garlic
2 bay leaves
8 pork bangers or any other sausage
you prefer
• Assemble this dish just before you go to sleep and it will be cooked by the time you wake up.
• Soak the mushrooms in 1 cup of hot water for 10 minutes. Chop the mushrooms.
• Place the mushrooms, their liquid and the rest of the ingredients in a pot. Stir and cover the pot with foil or baking paper.
• Leave the pot in the fire's embers and ash overnight or let it simmer gently over lukewarm coals for 4 hours with a few coals on the lid.
• Serve the lentils and sausages with a slice of beer bread.
